The switch to Novalgin: reasons, effect and application!
I'm now switching to novalgin and I have to say: the drug really helps very well. After a short time, I noticed a significant improvement in my complaints. The effect starts quickly and I feel much more comfortable overall.
It doesn’t always have to be the same morphines, even lighter painkillers like Novalgin should be tried. Especially with moderate pain, novalgin can be an effective and well-tolerated alternative. It is worth discussing different options together with the doctor and not immediately resorting to the strongest drugs.
My current dosage is 500 mg eight times a day. I can cope well with this and have the feeling that the complaints are optimally relieved. Of course, the intake is done in consultation with my doctor in order to keep an eye on possible side effects.
Novalgin contains as an active substance metamizole sodium, a pain-killing and fever-lowering medicine. In addition to the main active ingredient, the tablets also contain excipients such as corn starch, cellulose, magnesium stearate and others that ensure the production and stability of the drug.
As always, this report is based on my own experience and should only be understood as a personal assessment.
Novalgin (metamizole) works against severe pain and fever. The main risks are:

Agranulocytosis: a rare, life-threatening reduction of certain white blood cells. In case of fever, chills, sore throat or painful sore spots in the mouth or genital area immediately stop and have it clarified by a doctor. This can also occur after previous good tolerability and shortly after discontinuation. BfArM/EMA

Blood pressure drop, especially in the case of lack of fluids or already low blood pressure.

Allergic reactions: Call in case of shortness of breath, swelling of the face/tongue or circulatory collapse 112.
